Manchester Academy flies to Maldives

Manchester Soccer academy’s two teams, namely Red and White took off to Maldives’ capital Island Mali to take part in the Hulumale Sports school Invitation Cup Soccer tournament that is currently being played from the 26th of November to 01st of December.

In two squads of 15 each, Sumesh Salman of Hamza College, Mutal and Rakeeb Razmin of Cresent International are currently leading the teams in Maldives for their respective club Reds and Whites.

This will be the first time a Sri Lankan soccer academy will be taking part in an overseas tournament. Another important event will be the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding which will be signed by the two parties; Hulumale Sports School and the Manchester Soccer Accademy which will enable both sides to exchange football development programs which will uplift the skills and techniques of the players of both the academies in return.

The academy was inaugurated by the veteran Sri Lankan footballer Augustine George six months earlier to this date. Speaking to ThePapare he said, ‘the academy was formed to uplift and improve skillful soccerites in the future who could fit into the National level standards.’

Sri Lanka will take part in two groups, Manchester Red in group A and Manchester white will play their matches in group B. The groups have been divided as;

Group A

Manchester Academy Red, BG Sports Club, Maziya Sports and Recreation, Club Eagles, Maldives Soccer Mates.

Group B

Manchester Academy White, Early Touch FA, Hulumale Sports School, Tips FC, Soccer Veterans Associations of Maldives.
