The Toastmasters of District 82 in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Association of Racing Drivers and Riders (SLARDAR) have come together to present the Toastmasters Fun Rally – Get to the Point, an exciting TSD rally which will commence from the vicinity of the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute on the 22nd October at 02.00pm.
This initiative is a brainchild of the District Director of the Toastmasters District 82, Mr. Ajantha Jayawardane and is being put forth as an awareness exercise to educate the public about what the Toastmasters are about. The Idea is to engage with the public and the Toastmasters alike through a fun filled evening.
Speaking at a function held to announce the event Mr. Kamil Hussain, The Vice President of SLADAR and a toastmaster himself explained the workings of the “Get to the point” fun rally. Mr.Hussain explained that the rally will be flagged off from the vicinity of Sri Lanka Foundation premises and the route will cover approximately 110km and will comprise of 12 to 15 checkpoints along the way. A closing time has been allocated for each check point and the team needs to reach the point within an allocated time. Being a fun rally there will also be certain challenges which require them to get off the vehicles that will be organized for the drivers and the teams that participate in turn providing a platform for the participants to hone their skills in communication and leadership.
“Get to the point” fun rally will be held in three categories providing everyone a chance to compete.
Category 1 – Trucks and Vans
Category 2 – Cars and Vans (Above 1000cc)
Category 3 – Cars (Up to 1000cc)
A team needs to be four members of which at least two being toast masters. From the time of the Flag off at 02.00pm the Carnival atmosphere will be open to the general public for a nominal fee and will be able to enjoy the music, food, action stations and various other activities that will be arranged in the vicinity of the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute on the 22nd of October 2017.
