Hosts British School, Colombo finally managed to get a win under their name after being on the back pedal since the start of the Inter-International Basketball Championship. Apart from the home team, Gateway College and Lyceum International also claimed wins.
Girls’: British School in Colombo (BSC) vs Lyceum International School – Nugegoda (LISN)
BSC claimed a win in a nail-biting encounter against LISN, winning the match in the final few moments with a scoreline of 54-51. Miharu Ramanayake from BSC was the key offensive player, scoring 23 points while for LISN it was Saduni who scored 24 points.
Both teams struggled to maintain the lead consistently as they took turns going ahead. BSC had an edge receiving a few opportunities at the free shot line to stay ahead. With no clear winner decided by the final quarter, both teams switched to a tight full-court press to add pressure on the opposing team. It was BSC that finally got lucky, getting in 2 consecutive shots to win the game.

Girls’: Lyceum International School – Wattala (LISW) vs Asian International School (AIS)
LISW continued their winning streak beating AIS 49-23 to remain undefeated in the tournament. Neisha was the highest scorer for AIS, getting 9 points while Mihinsa De Alwis was the highest scorer for LISW securing 11 points for her team.
LISW wasted no time in taking control of the game from the tip-off, securing a substantial lead in the first quarter itself. AIS, on the other hand, struggled on the offense, failing to register double digits in any of the quarters which left them trailing behind. LISW dominated the post securing both offensive and defensive rebounds.

Boys’: Gateway College Colombo (GCC) vs Lyceum International School – Panadura (LISP)
The boys’ match for the day was won by GCC playing against LISP with a final score of 76-23. Nikhil Jayasinghe was the highest point scorer for LISP with almost half the full score, securing 10 points while Navod Silva scored almost double for GCC, getting 22 points.
GCC asserted their dominance from the jump ball, taking the first 5 baskets of the game while LISP struggled to get their shots to connect. Although LISP caught up slightly towards the second quarter, when the second half began, they lost the plot on the game allowing the GCC players to easily get through their defense.
The lads from GCC dominated the post on rebounds and made good use of each player on the offense to secure their baskets. GCC outscored LISP by over 20 points in both the 3rd and 4th quarters.
