Former Sri Lanka Cricket captain, Hashan Tillakaratne has been named as the Sri Lanka batting coach for the upcoming three-match Test series against India which starts on Wednesday in Galle.

The 50-year-old, was also the batting coach against Zimbabwe in the one-off Test match earlier this month. He was contracted by Sri Lanka Cricket last year as a specialist batting coach to overlook the younger crop of batsmen. Since Graham Ford’s resignation, Tillakarathne has been working tirelessly with the senior Lankan batting unit.

“Hashan’s experience in Test cricket will help us immensely. The batsmen can pick his mind on how to tackle pressure and how to bat for long. He is doing a great job with the boys,” Sri Lanka Team Cricket Manager Asanka Gurusinha told Cricbuzz on Monday.

Last week, Chaminda Vaas was appointed as the bowling coach after Champaka Ramanayake’s resignation.
