Ports Authority finishes in 11th place

Sri Lanka Ports Authority finished their maiden campaign in the Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship in 11th place after defeating Maldives’ Maldivian Sports & Recreation Club 3-1 in the 11th place play-off match in Vietnam.

Ports Authority lost 3-0 in the 9th-12th place semi-finals to Thailand’s Air Force SC yesterday (4th July) sending them to battle against the Maldives side. In the semi-final, Ports Authority lost 25-17, 25-23 and 27-25. Skipper Janitha Surath top scored for Ports with 19 points.

Against Maldivian Sports & Recreation Club, Sri Lanka Ports Authority did not get off to an ideal start as they lost the 1st set 20-25. However, they recovered to square the sets 1-1, with a 25-22 win in the 2nd set.

Thereafter Ports Authority cruised towards the win, winning the next two sets with an identical score line of 25-18.

Lasindu Methmal Wasanthapriya was the highest scorer for Ports Authority with 19 points while Janitha Surath scored 12 points.
