The annual Ranfer Sprint Rowing Regatta conducted by the Colombo Rowing Club will start off this Saturday at 1pm at the same venue. This regatta is successfully organised for the 28th time in the rowing calendar. Seven teams in the men’s category and five teams in the women’s category will be competing for the championship.
Ranfer Regatta will have team events with short 300m races and the winners will be chosen based on highest points obtained and timings. The regatta would have events such as sculls, pair and fours in the both men’s and women’s categories. Altogether, there will be 96 participants in this regatta on Saturday.
The teams that are due to compete at the 28th Ranfer Sprint Rowing Regatta would be Royal College Colombo, University of Colombo, University of Moratuwa, S. Thomas’ College Mount Lavinia, Gateway College, St. Joseph’s College and Colombo Rowing Club in the men’s section. In the girl’s section, Bishops College, Ladies College, Colombo Rowing Club and University of Colombo will compete.
Royal College and Ladies College will be heading into this year’s regatta as the defending champions. This year’s regatta promises to be an exciting one, assured to will grab everyone’s attention as there are experienced and well trained teams participating.
