Sri Lanka produced a dominant and stellar performance on Tuesday to thrash Scotland by 9 wickets in their second one-day game played at Kent County Cricket Grounds.
Chinaman Lakshan Sandakan ripped through the Scotland middle order with a fine spell of 4 for 39 in 10 overs to rattle the hosts for 166 before Upul Tharanga and Kusal Mendis smashed 53* and 74* respectively to help Sri Lanka comfortably cruise through to victory.
Niroshan Dickwella and Tharanga got the visitors to a cracking start adding 56 before the former fell for 28 with 5 fours. Mendis then joined Tharanga and they completely smashed the hapless Scottish bowling to all parts of the grounds.

Mendis consumed just 51 balls for his excellent knock which had 10 fours and 2 sixes while Tharanga struck at 84.13 with 4 boundaries and a six. They built an unbroken 114-run stand for the 2nd wicket to ease through with more than 27 overs to spare.
Earlier, Tharanga standing in for regular skipper Angelo Mathews opted to field first. Experienced seamer Nuwan Kulasekara removed dangerous Kyle Coetzer and Calum MacLoed early to torment the Scots.
Thisara Perera edged out Matthew Cross for 27 as the hosts started to crumble. Sandakan was excellent with his variety as he partnered up with Seekkuge Prasanna to have the Scots reeling at 83 for 7 at one stage. Craig Wallace made a fighting 46 off 60 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes as the last three wickets doubled their score to 166.
Prasanna chipped in with 2 wickets including the scalp of Wallace in the 43rd over. Alasdair Evans and Matthew Cross contributed with 22 and 27 runs respectively.
Earlier, the visitors left out captain Angelo Mathews, opening batsman Kusal Janith Perera and seamer Suranga Lakmal for Kulasekara, Prasanna and Dickwella to give important game time ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2017.
The Scotland players wore black armbands today as a sign of respect after the bomb attack in Manchester.
