The South Asian Junior & Cadet Table Tennis Championship is to be held in Sri Lanka for the first time in the sporting history of table tennis.
The Table Tennis Association of Sri Lanka (TTASL) along with the Sports Ministry and the entertainment division of Colombo Municipal Council has made all arrangements to host this mega event at the S. Thomas’ College Mount Lavinia indoor stadium.
The main objective of the event will be to enhance soft skills of young table tennis players in Sri Lanka and to promote the game among the new generation of sports men and women. The event will be held from the 19th to the 21st of May 2017.
The opening ceremony will be on the 19th at 9.00am local time as the event is scheduled to go on till 9.00pm on all three days.
India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka will be the nations who will battle it out at the event. Each country will have 14 players in their respective team along with 1 official.
Chairman of the organizing committee Chandana Perera added his views on the tournament at hand “There is just one issue about Nepal’s participation, they have not confirmed as yet due to the election being held in their country, but we hope for a positive reply from them soon”

- Under 18 Singles – Boys and Girls
- Under 18 Doubles – Boys and Girls
- Under 15 Singles – Boys and Girls
