St. Peter’s College, Negombo won the Inter School Under-17 Division II cricket championship title with a six-wicket victory over De La Salle College, Mutwal in the final played at Thurstan College ground in Colombo.
Five bowlers shared honours for the winners as Milan Appuhami, Anastas Kumarasinghe, Nipun Rukshan, Dinan Fernando and Nishan Peiris shared two wickets apiece to restrict De La Salle to 115 runs before Dilshan Costa anchored their top order with a valuable 44 runs for them to reach the target in 32 overs.
Costa was named the Man of the Match for his 44 runs, while Dilshara Fernando’s 30 runs won him the Best Batsman award.
Roshen Fernando of De La Salle was the best bowler.
Both teams have secured their places in the Division I tournament by virtue of their semi-final victories.
