Lumbini College demolished Bandaranayake College, Gampaha by an innings and 9 runs in their 4th annual Battle of the Blues and Greens encounter which was worked off today at Colombo Colts grounds.
Bandaranayake College, Gampaha resuming day two on 52 for 4 wickets, lost their way as wickets fell at regular intervals. Pasindu Bandara who tried his best to defend Lumbini bowling attack couldn’t prevent the inevitable as Bandaranayake folded for 108 in their first innings.

Lumbini ‘s paceman Pasindu Nadun was the chief destroyer, as he grabbed seven Bandaranayake wickets for only 49 runs. He was too good with his seam bowling and the fielders backed him up well as Lumbini College took the advantage in the first innings.
Earlier in the game, the lads from Lumbini made a formidable 248 in the first innings thanks to a superb 80 from right hander Kavin Pieris who guided Lumbini to a commanding position with Amitha Dabare and Ravindu Sanjeewa making useful cameos.
Bandaranayake College, Gampaha started their second essay under pressure hoping to bat out and save the game. Lumbini bowlers once again came to the party dismantling the Bandaranayake batting line up.
Sasiri Adikari fought a losing battle as he managed to make 40 runs. The rest of the batting collapsed under pressure despite yet another contribution by Janindu Jayawardene.
Vimukthi Kulatunga led the bowling attack as he was the main contributor with three scalps, while Pasindu Nadun chipped in with two more wickets as he ended up with a match bag of 9 for 85. Bandaranayake College, Gampaha was ultimately dismissed for 130 in 36.3 overs handing Lumbini College a comprehensive innings and 9 run win.
