Thurstan College took major honours in the opening day of the Singer-cup traditional encounter against Richmond College which began today at Thurstan grounds.
Being asked to bat first the visitors were knocked out for a below-par 85 runs inside 29 overs as Charana Nanayakkara managed another five wicket haul for the home team. Left handed Dananjaya Lakshan top scored for the lads from Galle with 28 runs. In reply the hosts were in a commanding position at stumps.

Royal College vs Dharmaraja College
Royal College was in a strong position as Dharmaraja College was restricted for 106 / 9 wickets in the opening day of the traditional encounter which started today at Royal grounds. Skipper Helitha Withanage was superb with the ball as he captured four scalps for the home team.
