The round robin matches of the SLC Premier League Tournament ‘Tier B’ 2016/17 were completed last weekend as all 9 teams completed their eight respective matches.
The top team will qualify for the segment ‘A ‘next year while the team that finishes at the bottom of the table will be demoted to the Sara competition.
Panadura SC is placed first in the league with 134.1 points but as the match-fixing allegations against them are still pending, SL ports Authority are in with a chance of topping the league. Unfortunately SL Air Force finished at the bottom and might be demoted next year where as Negombo CC was ruled out of playing the tournament by SLC.
Batting Performances
24 year old right-handed batsman Hashan Prabath from Kurunegala YCC heads the batting list with 619 runs including a century and 5 half-tons in 8 matches. SL Ports authority left hander Yohan De Silva with 615 runs including an unbeaten 165 and 3 half-tons to his name is in 2nd place while the 3rd spot on the batting charts is occupied by Buddhika Hasaranga from SL Navy with 570 runs including 7 half-centuries.

Panadura SC left arm spinner Gayan Sirisoma has been outstanding this year picking up 91 wickets in only 8 matches with his best being 9 for 38. Sirisoma has taken 12 five wicket hauls and 7 ten wicket match bags at an average of 12.28.
Chamikara Edirisinghe from SL ports Authority placed second with 53 scalps and his spin twin from the same club Chanaka Komasaru remains third with 52 wickets. Lankan CC skipper Rajeewa Weerasinghe, being the only off spinner, in the list with 45 wickets under his belt.
