Ragama vs Tamil Union

Tamil Union were cruising when bad light stopped play on their match against Ragama at R Premadasa Stadium. Former Peterite opening batsman Dineth Thimodya and Tharanga Paranavithane had a 214 run partnership for the third wicket. Dineth after a few failures in the previous matches scored a brilliant 113 which included 9 boundaries and 1 maximum. Paranavithana was unbeaten on 104 at stumps and they were 269 for 3 in their first innings.

Colts vs Chilaw Marians

A total of 15 wickets fell on the first day’s play in the match between Colts and Chilaw Marians at CCC grounds. Colts batted first and they were cleaned up for a solitary 150 in just 46.5 overs. Arosh Janoda bowled a brilliant spell with the new ball taking 7 for 38. Apart from 20’s from Sadeera Samarawickrama, Prabath Jayasuriya and Akila Dhananjaya, there wasn’t much to speak of about the Colts innings with the bat.

Colts made comeback into the game with the ball as they restricted Chilaw for 96 runs with already 5 batters back in the hut. Akila Dhananjaya bagged 3 for 5.

NCC vs CCC

CCC were in the driving seat at stumps, only trailing by 46 runs with 7 wickets in tact. NCC could only make 200 runs for their first innings with 40’s from Lahiru Fernando and Anuk Fernando. Wickets tumbled at regular intervals which did not let NCC build big partnerships. Lahiru Gamage bagged 4 for 52, Usman Ishak and Wanindu Hasaranga bagged 2 wickets each.

In reply at stumps, CCC were 154 for 3 with an unbeaten 74 by Ron Chandraguptha.

SSC were trailing by 170 runs with 7 wickets in hand at stumps in their match against Army SC at Colts Grounds. Army posted 228 all out for their first innings with Dilshan De Soyza top scoring with 74. He got good support from Seekuge Prasanna who a scored quick fire 40. Sachithra Senanayake was the pick of the bowlers with 4 for 43 and Kasun Madushanka bagged 3 for 29.

At stumps Army were 58 for 3 in 20 overs.

A 196 run partnership for the 6th between Yashoda Lanka and Dilhan Cooray helped Galle post 407 all out for their first innings. Dilhan was dismissed for 82 but Yashoda went on to make a brilliant 167. His innings consisted of 12 fours and 4 sixes. With the ball for BRC, Dinuka Hettiarachchi bagged 7 for 158.

At stumps BRC were 110 for 1 in 27 overs. Bhanuka Rajapaksha was unbeaten on 48 for BRC

Bloomfield vs Moors

Half centuries from Prabath Waduge and Shanuka Dulaj helped Moors take a 98 run lead in their first innings with 6 wickets in hand. Bloomfield was 43 for 3 when bad light stopped play yesterday. Apart from Thiran Dhanapala and Vinodh Perera the rest of the batsmen fell cheaply as they got bowled out for 152 runs. Pramod Maduwantha took 3 for 5 and Nilanka Pathirana bagged 2 for 47.

In reply at stumps on day 2, Moors were 250 for 4 with Prabath Waduge scoring 74 at the top and Shanuka Dulaj scoring a run a ball 56 at No 4. Malith De Silva bagged 2 for 88 for Bloomfield.

He kept on loosing partners at the other end but he soldiered on and carried his bat through the innings. Kasun Rajitha and Suraj Randiv bagged 3 wickets each for Saracens.
