Kotte SC and Polgahawela Sc book the spots in this finals of the Women’s Division II finals beating Kurunegala SC and Thihariya SC 4-3 in penalties and 2-0 respectively.
Kotte SC v Kurunegala SC
Kotte SC came into the finals unbeaten in group B as they beat their opponents Rathnapura and Ambalangoda 5-0 and 3-1 respectively in the 1st round. On the flip side, Kurunegala came into the semis at the end of an impressive run of their own as they beat Anuradhapura SC and Polgahawela SC 6-0 and 2-0 respectively.
Kotte SC edged passed Kurunegala SC in a thriller which went down to the wire, ending in a penalty shootout. After normal time ended in a stalemate at three goals apiece (3-3), the Kotte women came on top winning the shootout 4-2, beating Kurunegala SC to advance to this year’s finals.

Thihariya SC v Polgahawela SC
Thihariya SC came into the semi-finals unbeaten as they scraped passed Ganemulla SC 1-0 while they handed an absolute mauling to Fordice SC thumping them 13-0. Polgawela had an up and down journey to the semis as they won comfortably against Anuradhapura but slumped to defeat against another semifinalist in the shape of Kurunegala SC (2-0).
Polgahawela made fair weather of their opponents in the semis as they breezed past them with a commanding 2-0 victory to advance to the finals of this year’s competition. Polgahawela managed to come up trumps with a clean sheet leaving no respite for their depleted opponents.
