Chilaw Marians vs Bloomfield

Shehan Jayasuriya slammed a double ton on day 2 to put Chilaw Marians on the driving seat in their match against Bloomfield at Bloomfield grounds. Bloomfield were in a spot of bother at stumps yesterday and they went from bad to worse when they kept losing wickets from the start of day 2. Malinda Pushpakumara bagged another 5-for this season to clean up Bloomfield for just 136 runs. Adeesha Nanayakkara was the only batsman to go past the 30 run mark for the home side. The visitors came out to bat for their second innings and it was all about Shehan Jayasuriya from then on. His unbeaten knock of 218 came off just 194 balls with 26 boundaries and 1 six. At stumps on day 2, Chilaw Marians were 379 for 3.

Early on, Chilaw Marians posted 291 all out for their first innings with Arosh Janoda scoring 80 down the order. Lahiru Fernando took 6 for the home side.

Thilakarathne Sampath’s century helped BRC reach 407 for 7 at stumps on day 2 in their match against CCC at CCC grounds. BRC resumed play with 56 for no loss Lasith Lakshan scored 61 at the top of the order but the match defining innings came from Sampath who scored 123 runs with 14 boundaries and 3 sixes. He found good support from Rumesh Buddika and Harsha Vithana who scored 44 and 51 respectively. Shaluka Silva bagged 3 wickets for the home side.

Early on, CCC posted 326 with a brilliant 191 from Dilshan Munaweera. Dinuka Hettiarachchi bagged 6 wickets for the visitors.

Minodh Bhanuka went on to make 148 for SSC as they took a first innings lead of 151 against Galle CC at Galle. SSC resumed play with 121 runs on board for the loss of 1 wicket. Bhanuka converted his overnight score of 73 into a brilliant 148 off 174 balls. Charith Asalanka scored 76 while skipper Dasun Shanaka chipped in with a quick-fire half ton. Ruwan Herath and Roshan Jayatissa bagged 3 wickets each for the home side. In reply at stumps on Day 2, Galle were 131 for 2 in their second innings. Minhaj Jaleel was unbeaten on 79 runs.

Ragama lost two early wickets of Lahiru Milantha and Janith Liyanage but a 144-run stand between Lahiru Thirimane and Jayasundara helped them reach 217 for 3 at stumps on day 2. Udara’s knock came off 199 balls and it included 11 boundaries and 1 six.

Early on, Colts posted 366 for their first innings with two 90’s by Sadeera Samarawickrama and Akila Dhanajaya. Amila Aponsu bagged 7 for 85 for Ragama CC.
