Prince of Wales College (B) Moratuwa emerged champions beating St. Peter’s College Colombo (B) on the performance points system in the finals of the Singer Cup Division II tournament held at the Thurstan College Colombo grounds.
Prince of Wales coming in to bat first after winning the toss was able to post a modest score of 154/7 in 64 overs, aided by Thanuj Kavishan (41 not out) and Chenula Mandiv (27). Imesh Chandimal (2/27) and Shawn de Alwis (2/17) from St. Peter’s had a great day with the ball to ensure the boys from Moratuwa were contained to a score below 200.
Feeling confident after an excellent bowling performance the lads from Bambalapitiya were not up to the challenge as they crumbled to the bowling attack of Prince of Wales and managed to score only 72/9 in 39 overs as play was called off. The top scorer for St. Peter’s was Sithum Silva (12 not out). Thanuj Kavishan (4/34) and Chenula Mandiv (2/08) were the shining stars for Prince of Wales.
