Army SC will be seeking to go to new heights this season as they push for a mid-table finish in what looks like a touch competition for the Soldiers.
Even though Army managed to win the T20 tournament, they had a horrific group stage in the League last season, finishing in penultimate position in group B. From then on Army went on to finish third in the Plate segment.
Bit of history
Army started their run in first class cricket as recently as 2006/07 but has been able to produce some quality bowlers in mystery spinner Ajantha Mendis and leg spinner Seekkuge Prasanna, who have represented Sri Lanka at the highest level. Asela Gunaratne, who made his debut for Sri Lanka in their most recent tour to Zimbabwe, is also a man who has been prolific for the Soldiers with both bat and ball.
