Malinda Pushpakumara bowls Chilaw Marians to the top of the table

Left arm spinner Malinda Pushpakumara picked 11 wickets in the match as he stole the show against Galle CC to hand Chilaw Marians an innings and 231 run win while Lahiru Jayakody deprived SSC off an outright win. Meanwhile Colts, BRC and Ragama managed first innings wins.

Chilaw Marians Cricket Club v Galle Cricket Club

Galle began the final day reeling at 148 for the loss of 8 wickets and with 10 wickets to survive from an innings defeat.

Galle CC crumbled to leg spinner Malinda Pushpakumara, not once but twice as the spinner bagged 5 in the first innings and 6 in the second innings to hand Chilaw Marians an innings and 231 run win.

Shalika Karunanayake was the single batsman to stand up to the task managing 64 off 139 balls with 7 fours and 3 sixes but once he was dismissed, Pushpakumara and Shehan Jayasuriya ran through the visitors innings dismissing Galle for just 164 in their second innings.

Earlier in the day, Galle was bowled out in their first inning for 157 in 60.2 overs.

Saracens Sports Club v Colts Cricket Club

Saracens narrowly missed a first innings win over Colts falling short by 23 runs.

Saracens began day three on 223 for 6 and an excellent 52 by right handed Suraj Randiv drove the visitors towards Colts target but fell short at 351.

Prabath Jayasuriya was the pick of the bowlers for Colts picking 4 for 67 and off spinner Akila Dananjaya bagged 2 for 93.

Hashan Dumindu made an unbeaten 65 as he took Colts to 170 at the close of play on the third and final day.

Sri Lanka Army Sports Club v Ragama Cricket Club

Ragama began day three with the first innings points in the bag and hopes of winning the game.

Army opener Lakshitha Madushan made a spirited 73 and took the hosts towards safety. Dilshan de Soysa provided vital support with 48 and took Army’s second innings total to 234 in 82.4 overs.

Ragama came into bat with a target of 206 in their sights, but with light fading and the day drawing to a close Ragama managed just 40 for the loss of 2 wickets in 9 overs.

Dushan Vimukthi was the only bowler to bag wickets as he took the two wickets to fall for Ragama ending with 2 for 9.

BRC v Moors

BRC began day three with the first innings secured on day two.

Starting off at 164 for 5, BRC ended with 280 runs on the board. Thilakarathne Sampath was unfortunate to miss out on a well deserved century falling short on 92 off 143 balls,

Ruvindu Gunasekara was the star with the ball for Moors picking 4 for 34 while Sachithra Perera managed 2 scalps.

Moors was set a target of 348 to get in 55 overs. With the first innings points gone begging, Primosh Perera came out all guns blazing as he managed a well made 104 off 144 with 9 fours and a solitary six. Shanuka Dulaj and Pabasara Waduge provided immense support with 70 and 50 respectively.

Moors came ever so close to their target but fell short at 325 for 8 wickets at the close of play.

SSC v Bloomfield

SSC began the final day in prime position to clean through the Bloomfield batting.

Bloomfield who were back at the crease on 179 for 9 wickets, had a mountain to climb. The final pair added 24 runs as they were bowled out for 201 in their first innings early on day three.

Bloomfield was sent into follow on unsurprisingly with a deficit of 289 to recover from.

Number three batsman Lahiru Jayakody stepped up to the task as he scored an unbeaten 118 off 210 to safely take Bloomfield through to the close of play on the final day.

Nipun Karunanayake provided support with 77 while Sachin Jayawardena scored 30 runs for the visitors as they ended the day on 296 for 9.
