SLC Premier League Tier A game between Tamil Union C&AC and Baduraliye SC commenced at P. Sara Oval today.
Winning the toss, the hosts, Tamil Union decided to take first lease of the wicket, however, the Baduraliye bowlers struck into the top order and wreaked havoc. Consequently, they found themselves at 6-99 before the lower middle order began the revival with a spirited fight back. The likes of Major Sarathchandra, Pulina Tharanga, Chamika Karunaratne and Charith Jayampathy put up a dogged batting display to carry Tamil Union to a respective 252. Saliya Saman was the chief destroyer for the visitors as he bagged an impressive 4/51 ably supported by captain Alankara Asanka Silva who chipped in with 3 scalps.
In response, Baduraliye got off to a dismal start similarly despite a decent opening stand of 22 as they lost 3 early wickets as the Tamil Union bowlers made the ball talk. Former Royal College and Sri Lanka U19 skipper Chamika Karunaratne along with Ramith Rambukwella and veteran Jeevan Mendis bagged a wicket a piece as Baduraliye ended day 1 at 44/3.
