As the National and Junior National Aquatic Championship continued at the Sugathadasa swimming pool, Killer Whales Aquatics (KWA) was the dominating team at the end of the second day.
The first event for the day was the women’s open 400m Individual Medley in which Dilelekha Gunawardena from Ladies College came first finishing with a time of 5:47.88.
Kaveen Weerasinghe continued to bring in points for KWA as he won the men’s open 400m Individual Medley event held soon after the women’s IM with a timing of 4:58.92. He was also a part of the team that won the men’s open 800m Free Style relay along with Kyle and Dillon Abeysinghe with a time of 8:14.18.
The Abeysinghe brothers also won their fair share of events today as Kyle came first in the men’s open 100m Free Style finishing with a time of 52.35 whilst Dillon came in first in the men’s open 50m Backstroke event clocking in at 27.79.
Taking a look at the younger age groups Ramudi Samarakoon from Visakha Vidyalaya dominated all her events coming first in the girl’s U15 100m Free Style event with a timing of 1:04.25 as well as being a part of the 400m Free Style Relay that won with a timing of 4:41.96.
V. Kaluarachchi dominated her events on the women’s side of this championship winning the women’s open 800m and open 200m Free Style Relay along with Sandali Inupama, T.T. Senivirathne, S.S. Herath and Sayuni Geeganage with a timing of 10:07.45 and 2:03.23 respectively. She also won the women’s 50m backstroke event finishing it in 32.62.
The Killer whale Aquatic team dominated majority of the events for the day dominating the top spot in all the following events, men’s open 400m Individual Medley, men’s open 800m Free Style Relay, men’s open 200m Breaststroke, women’s open 100m Free Style, men’s open 100m Free Style, men’s open 50m Backstroke.
