The Ladies’ College water polo team will be looking to put the past 5 years behind them as they aim to turn the tables on Visakha Vidyalaya in their annual meeting on the 28th October 2016.
Having not managed a win since 2010, Ladies College will be looking forward to re-write their names in the record books by beating their arch rivals in their annual encounter.
Experienced squad
Of the starting lineup, 7 players were in the Sri Lanka National squad this year and will look to bring in experience for the main encounter of the season. Shenara David, the leader of the line, will look to penetrate the Visakhian defense with the aim of scoring as many goals as possible.
Dunyasha Hewagama, playing on the wing, will be used as a supplier as she provides support to the forward line. Nimashi De Silva and captain Sashi Weerawarana will be looked up to as the pillars in defense.

Ashmeetha Cooray in goal will need to have a solid game as the shot stopper and limit the opposition to as few goals as possible.
The seniors having played together for more than 5 years and with skill to boast, the Ladies from Colombo 7 will need to fight hard to put the 5 year trophy drought to an end.
Having not won the M.N. Edissuriya trophy since 2010, Ladies College will put up a fight this time around and look to prove their doubters wrong as they aim to secure major honors. As Captain Sashi Weerawarana said “we hope to play the best the game that we have played the entire year. We hope to show all of our strengths, minimize mistakes and we hope to win”
History
Ladies’ College have not tasted victory in the past 5 years of the tournament but with a starting lineup that includes players who have represented Sri Lanka, they will look to make their experience count and turn the tables on their arch rivals.
Having played in just a single tournament this season, the Ellawala League, which came at a rather unexpected time of the season, this encounter will be a good opportunity for the girls from Flower road to end things on a high, following a disastrous 10-5 loss in the M.N. Edussooriya trophy last year.
