The two semi-finals of the Inter-International Girls` Basketball Championship was worked off between Gateway College & Asian International School and Lyceum International School – Wattala & Colombo International School – Colombo. Here`s what happened.

Gateway College – Colombo v Asian International School
The start for the semi-final wasn’t the best for AIS as only Samina Najmudeeen and Sinithi managed to score points for the outfit inside the first ten minutes. Samina converted one free throw into points while Sinithi swished a jumper. In reply GCC added twelve points. Shamalka Dias and Anuki added five points each while Kiara Ekanayake added a couple.
Going into the second quarter with a lead of nine points, GCC continued the momentum and scored another dozen as the half time scorecard read 24-9. AIS only managed six points in the quarter. Anuki added six points for GCC while the rest of the points were divided amongst Shamlka, Anuththra and Sayani. For AIS it was Neesha Leenage and Shareena Paranavithana who did the scoring.
The second half of the game also did not relate a favorable plot for AIS as they added fifteen points, but with the early lead the opposition was still on top.
GCC added four points in the third quarter as Sayani added three points with the remaining points being scored by Saninidi. GCC, executing their plans right, won the game by thirty-one points as they booked their slot in the championship final.

Lyceum International School Wattala v Colombo International School – Colombo
It was an intense start to the second semi-final as both schools were competing for a slot to take on Gateway College – Colombo. LISW lead the game by a point at the end of the maiden quarter. Pavani Ranepura added five points while Hassena Abdul added a couple. Minushi De Alwis swished the nets from the perimeter to add three more. For CISC two three pointers from Onela Fernando and one from Amashi Wijesekara made up their total. Scorecard read 10-9.
Coming into the second quarter of the game LISW added another fifteen points as the scorecard at lemons read 25-15. CISC only managed nine points. It was a complete team performance from LISW as all the players contributed in scoring. Asha Nidma and Lubna Moseth scored four points each while Minusha De Alwis added five points together with a couple by Haseena Abdul. Misaki Hatta scored five points for CISC. Leia Hamza converted one free-throw into points to complete the six points in the quarter.
Both teams, getting back into their rhythm, played some scintillating minutes of basketball as they got the crowd back on their feet. LISW added sixteen points into the quarter while CISC scored fifteen. Amashi Wijesekara scored eight points while the rest of the points were scored by the twin sisters Misaki and Hikari Hatta for CISC. For LISW it was Hazeena Abudl who did most of the scoring adding eight points. The score card read 41-30.
Coming into the final six hundred seconds of the game, LISW added eleven points while CISC only managed eleven points. Hazeena Abdul, continuing her form from the third quarter, scored another seven points and top scored in the game with nineteen points.
CISC failing to close up the deficit with two tight quarters of play had to end up on the losing side as LISW won the game by a comfortable margin of fifteen points and advanced into the finals.
