Four matches in the A, D & E Divisions of the Mercantile Services Basketball Association annual basketball league were played on the tenth day of competition. Here`s a look at what happened.
Lanka Orix Leasing v Union Bank
The D division match was played at Hendry Pedris Stadium. Both teams were up to the task of putting on a very competitive encounter as the match was tied thirty-one all at half time.
Nazir top scored in the match with twenty-two points for Lanka Orix Leasing and he was supported by the seventeen points from Chathura. Perera, doing most of the scoring for Union Bank, added twenty-one points while Shenal scored another eighteen.
Into the second half of the game both teams continued to tick the score board, yet Lanka Orix Leasing Company only managed to add another thirty-three points in reply to the forty-six points of the bankers. Shifting the fate of the game, Union Bank emerged victorious 64-77.
DFCC Bank v Commercial Credit & Finance
The A division encounter was played as the second match for the day at the Hendry Pedris Stadium. DFCC Bank, defending the ambush by Commercial Credit, led the game by a comfortable eight points going into half time as the scorecard read 26-18.
Terrance Neydoff of DFCC Bank top scored in the game with twenty-two points while Tharindu chipped in with nine points. Clinton scored fifteen points for Commercial Credit & Finance while Timothy Nithushan added another twelve.
Both teams doubled up the scoring rate in the second half of the game as they scored twenty-eight points each. The early lead helped DFCC Bank to stay ahead as they won the game 54-46.
UB Finance v Aitken Spence
The E division encounter was played at Otters Aquatic Club. Aitken Spence, dominating proceedings early on, led the game by thirteen points going into lemons as the scores read 13-26.
Rathnada, doing most of the scoring for Aitken Spence, top scored in the game adding sixteen points as Wickramasinghe chipped in with another nine points. Joy scored thirteen for UB Finance while Perera helped the cause with eight points.
It was an easy win for Aitken Spence as they went onto score seventeen points in the second half while UB Finance only scored thirteen points in reply. The full-time scoreboard read 26-43.
Airport & Aviation v Millennium IT
The E division match was played as the final match of the day at Otters Aquatic Club. Millennium IT led the game by fourteen points at the half time break. The scoreboard read 29-15.
Akila, going on a rampage, added twenty-eight points for Millennium IT and top scored in the game. Fazal scored eleven points to keep up the pressure. Silva, from Airport & Aviation, managed sixteen points into the game while De Silva scored eight.
Millennium IT continued their dominance as they scored thirty-four points in the second half of the game ending up victorious as the final score board read 29-63.
