Impressive right-arm fast-bowler Lahiru Kumara of Trinity College has been called up to the Sri Lanka ODI squad for the remainder of the series against Australia.
19-year old Kumara was one of the best performers for the Sri Lanka U19s in their recent tour to England where they won the two-match youth Test series, 1-0 and three-match youth ODI series, 3-0.
Kumara was the architect of the Test series win where he captured 11 wickets in the second match including a 7-wicket haul in the first innings as the Sri Lanka U19s registered a 7-wicket win. He was the pick of the bowlers during the one-dayers, taking 6 wickets throughout the series.
Left-handed middle-order batsman Milinda Siriwardana has been axed from the squad which departed to Dambulla today. Siriwardana had a modest outing in the first ODI where he got only 19 runs and was overlooked for the 2nd ODI.
