Three matches were played on the fifth day of the Mercantile Services Basketball which included two matches in the women`s category .Here is look at what happened.
Hatton National Bank (Women) v Seylan Bank (Women)
Hatton National Bank took on Seylan Bank in an A Division encounter at Hendry Pedris Stadium. Hatton National Bank led the game comfortably at half time as the score board read 24-15.
National cap Kumaranie De Silva scored twenty points for HNB to top score in the game and was followed by her team mate Anjalee Ekanayake who chipped in with nine points. Wijesiriwardhana scored fifteen points for Seylan Bank while Jayaliya Kumari scored eight points.
HNB added on another thirty-six points into the second half and Seylan Bank too added thirty-one points. Yet, the early lead in the game for HNB helped them to secure victory as the final score board read 60-46.
National Development Bank (Women) v John Keells Holdings (Women)
The B Division encounter between NDB and John Keells Holdings was played at Otters Aquatic Club. NDB led the game at half time by thirteen points as the score board read 28-15.
Natasha Perera did most of the scoring for NDB adding twenty-two points to top score in the game. Hashini Ariyaratne supported her with twelve points. The only notable performance for John Keells Holdings was from Binoli Barsanbach who scored nine points.
NDB dominated the second half of the game and scored twenty-two points as John Keells only managed seven points in the entire second half. The full time score read 50-22 in favour of NDB Bank.
National Development Bank (Men) v HSBC Sri Lanka (Men)
The C Division encounter between NDB and HSBC Sri Lanka was played at Otters Aquatic Club. NDB dominated proceedings right from the jump ball start as they led the game by twenty-five points into lemons. Scores read 39-14.
Mohamed Fawshan top scored in the game by adding twenty-four points for NDB. Jude Perera continued to keep up the momentum adding seventeen points. It was Madhushanka Rathanayake who scored ten points for HSBC Sri Lanka while Chamara Wimalananda scored eight points.
Continuing their dominance into the second half of the game NDB scored twenty-five points while HSBC replied with twenty-three points. It was a tough ask for HSBC to make inroads into the game and the final score board read 64-37.
