Aitken Spence, Airport & Aviation Dominate Day Three

Four matches were played on the third day of the Mercantile Services Basketball League Tournament 2016. Here`s a look at what happened.

Aitken Spence v Sarva Integrated

The E division clash between Aitken Spence and Sara Integrated was played at the Henry Pedris Stadium courts. Aitken Spence led the game comfortably at half time by seven points as the score board read 25-18.

Shaaib and Malik scored eight points each for Aitken Spence. Coming into the second half of the game both teams added seven points each. Yet the early lead helped Aitken Spence to secure victory. At full time the score board read 32-25. Silva top scored in the match scoring thirteen points for Sarva Integrated while his team mate Richi scored five points.


UB Finance v Airport & Aviation

The second match of Division E was played between UB Finance v Airport & Aviation at the same venue. It was a tight contest in the first half of the tournament as Airport & Aviation led the game by six points at lemons. The scorecard read 12-18.

Both teams went on a scoring rampage in the second half of the game. UB Finance added twenty-four points while their opponents added eighteen points. Fernando top scored for UB Finance with twenty-one points while Senaviratne added on another twelve points. Silva top scored in the game as he added twenty-four points for the Airport & Aviation outfit followed by another fourteen points by Nilan.

After a close affair Airport & Aviation won the match as the final score board read 45-36.


WNS Global v Ceylon Tobacco

The third match of the E Division was played at Otters Aquatic Club courts between WNS Global and Ceylon Tobacco. WNS Global dominated proceedings in the first half of the game as they led by fifteen points. Ceylon Tobacco only scored seven points while WNS Global scored twenty-two points by half time.

Wishwage top scored in the game with twenty-two points for WNS Global as Samarakoon added another fourteen points. Malwatta added eleven points for Ceylon Tobacco and Fernando scored nine points.

Continuing the scoring momentum, WNS Global won their second consecutive match in the tournament as the final score read 55-21.


IFS R&D International v Citizens Development Business

The fourth match of the E Division was played at the same venue. It was an end to end contest between the two competitors as the game was tied at 23 all at half time.

IFS R&D international added twenty-eight points into the second half while Citizens Development Business added seventeen points in reply. Witananchchi top scored by adding twenty-three points for IFS R&D International followed by 9 & 8 by Bathiya and Shaminda respectively.

Wijesinghe scored ten points as Randika added eighteen points while Navinda managed five for the opposition. Even though the contest was tied up at half time IFS R&D International stole the show at full time winning the game 51-40.
