South Africa Emerging after winning the toss posted a massive 405 runs for the loss of 3 wickets on the first day of the 2nd four day match against Sri Lanka Emerging today at Pretoria.

The Lankans miserable tour continued today on the first day as Johannes Ackerman and Karabo Mogotsi put up an unbeaten 130 run stand to guide the South Africans to massive 405 runs at the end of day’s play. Karabo Mogotsi opened the innings and he carried his bat through the day to end up at 155 while Ackerman was unbeaten on 91 off just 62 balls.

With Amila Aponsu who was the stand out bower on the tour being called up for the national side, Lankans lacked penetration which allowed the South African top order to score at ease. The opening pair added 122 runs for the first wicket. Simon Khomari scored 59 runs before he was dismissed by Akila Dananjaya who had to put in the hard yards due to the absence of Amila Aponsu. Skipper Leus Du Plooy missed out on half century but Johannes Ackerman who was in sublime form through out the series came out and absolutely dominated the bowlers. His innings of 91 had 14 fours and 2 sixes.

Having lost the first four day fixture, Lankans will have to pull off a high class performance in the coming three days to finish the tour on a high
