Thurstan College beat Maliyadewa College effortlessly

Thurstan College U17 beat Maliyadewa College U17 with ease by a massive 128 runs to progress through to the semi final in the Singer U17 Division 1 50 over Tournament 2016.

Winning the toss and batting first at the St. Peter’s College ground, Thurstan College managed 258 after been bowled out in the 49.4th over of the first innings. Yeshan Wickramarachchi top scored for the Thurstan boys with 84 while Imesh Viranga’s 37 at the death overs helped Thurstan College to their formitable total.

Nishanjaya Hettiarachchi (2/42), Sahan Ranatunga (2/43) and Sanjeewan Priyadarshana (2/54) managed 6 wickets between them for Maliyadewa College.

In reply Maliyadewa College was jostled out for just 130 in 30 overs.  Nipun Lakshan was the chief destroyer as he recorded impressive figures of 5/18. Bimara Ranatunga provided good support bagging 2/41.

Sahan Ranatunga top scored for Maliyadewa with 39 while Sanjeewan Priyadarshana scored 23 hard fought runs in a difficult situation for the batsmen.

With this win Thurstan College advance through to the Semi Final of the Singer U17 Division 1 50 over tournament.
