Carolina Marin the first non-Asian woman to win Badminton Gold

Spanish shuttler Carolina Marin became the first non-Asian woman to win Badminton Singles gold at the Olympics. World Top seed Marin defeated India’s P.V Sindhu in the women’s final and has now added Olympic gold to the impressive World Championship and the European title she holds. It was a gallant effort from Marin in the final, winning 19-21 21-12 21-15 to deny Sindhu’s hopes of becoming India’s first female Badminton Gold medalist and end the dominance Asian women have had in the event.


USA Basketball through to third consecutive final

USA men’s basketball team also known as “The USA” has secured a place in the final of the Men’s Basketball event and are in with a chance to win their 3rd Basketball Olympic gold. USA unbeaten through group stages, were given stiff competition by their arch rivals and silver medalist in London, Spain. The game boiled down to the last quarter and The USA clinched the game with 82-76 scores.


Bolt bows out of Olympics with 09 Gold’s

The Jamaican ace sprinter completed his quest of becoming the only man to have defended the 100m, 200m and the 4X100m tittles at three Olympics having won all the finals he had featured in at the Olympics. After winning the 100m and 200m Gold in the competition, Bolt anchored the Jamaican team to victory in the 4X100m relay.  He has said that the Rio games will be his final Olympics as he plans on retiring from the sport after 2017 World Championship and has now raised the bar for the young aspiring athletes as the only man to have achieved a triple.
