St. Joseph’s College Maradana showed no mercy as they racked up 10 goals against a helpless Kingswood lineup in their Group C fixture worked off at the CR & FC grounds, making it three out of three for them in the Kotmale Chox Championship.
It was the visitors from Kandy who had the first shot on target as they managed to kiss the woodwork as early as the 3rd minute. However it was the side from Darley road which bossed proceedings from there on in as they racked up three goals in the space of 14 minutes.
Asela Madushan started things off in the 6th minute as Sachintha Maduranga scored a brace in the 13th and 14th minutes respectively. The game seemed beyond reach from there on in for the lads from Kandy as their forwards offered little edge with the Josephian defense holding firm.

On the opposite end the Joes could have added a possible five goals to their tally if not for the woodwork and the lack of trajectory in the final third. Kavindya Rupesinghe piled on to the misery as he scored the fourth for the Joes in the 35th as Kingswood were left to contemplate on a woeful defensive performance in the first half as they whistle blew for lemons.
The second half was no different to the first as St. Joseph’s started from where they left off at the end of the first half scoring with their very first offensive move of the half. Asela scored his brace with a leaping header getting on top of a Nimesh Salindu cross from the right hand side. It was a goal fest as the Josephians added five more goals to their tally in the 53rd, 59th, 60th, 62nd and 78th minutes respectively, which saw a hat trick for Asela Madushan, a brace for Kavindya Rupesinghe and scintillating five for Sachintha Maduranga.

Kingswood hardly had anything to reflect upon as a dismal defensive show along with a lack of creativity and edge up front ensured that they were on the receiving end of an absolute mauling.
St. Joseph’s were dazzling going forward as they showed good pace and creativity to run rings around the Kingswood defense. Nevertheless it was Kavindya Rupesinghe who put in the hard yards for his team both offensively and defensively as he created the best opportunities from the middle and from both flanks.
