The Sri Lanka Netball Federation held trials to select an 18 member pool for the Asian Netball Championships on the 24th and 25th of this month at the Rathnavali Balika Indoor Stadium in Gampaha. Having done away with the ‘Under 30’ age restriction that was imposed in the previous trial, on the advice of Sports Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara, the SLNF were able to cut down the squad to 18 from the 41 who participated in the trials held over the past couple of days.
The 18 will now train together under Head Coach Deepthi Alwis before the pool is further cut down to a final 12 member squad that will travel to Thailand for the Asian Netball Championships, scheduled to be held from the 30th of July to the 7th of August.
