Sri Lanka Cricket has announced that insurance provider AIA will take over of the 2015/2016 sponsorship of the Limited Over Tournament. This is the first time that an insurance provider has taken over this huge prestige and responsibility.
Speaking at a press conference held at Sri Lanka Cricket CEO of AIA Insurance Lanka PLC, Mr Shah Rouf said he was pleased to provide funding to the tournament. He went on to say that the company would be looking forward to providing “grass root support to the sport island wide.”
The tournament will commence on the 27th of November with Colts Cricket Club hosting Sri Lanka Ports Authority Cricket Club at their home ground in Colombo. The two Semi finals will be held on the 23th and 24th of December, with the final to be played on the 30th of next month.
Tournament chairman Mr Ravi De Silva was asked whether there would have to be any rescheduling to the dates due to the adverse weather of late, he replied “the dates were finalised the night before and there may have to be alternatives for the two semi finals and the final.”
