Weerapuranappu make an amazing comeback to clinch victory against the Antonians, who were triumphant in the inaugural encounter between the 2 teams.
The Golds stood no chance against the bowling attack of their neighbors, Weerapuranappu Model School; the battle of the gold and purple turned out to be a contest against two teams that weren’t really evenly matched.

The 2nd annual match between Weerapuranappu Model School and St. Anthony’s College, Moratuwa was held on the 8th of May, 2016 at the De Zoysa Stadium. Weerapuranappu won the toss and elected to bat first. The opening pair did not last long as they were dismissed by A. Sameera. Most of the partnerships were short lived as the Antonian bowling attack seemed to be pretty strong. The 50-over match had to be limited to 45 overs due to the weather conditions. At the end of the 1st innings, Weerapuranappu posted a total of 203 for 7 wickets, in which Premesh Sulanka contributed 45(69) and Nipuna Tharusha made a contribution of 56 (61). In the latter part of the innings Pramesh also made a useful contribution of 22(11).
In the 2nd innings the Antonians, struggled in their search for glory but the bowlers of Weerapuranappu were just too good. The Antonians were all out for 80 in the 26th over. It was a job well done by the bowlers of the Weerapuranappu team, leading them to a 123 run win.
