Emperor Open Squash Championship from 15th to 22nd June

The Emperor Open Squash Championship is scheduled to commence from 15th to 22nd June  at The Tamil Union Squash Complex, under twenty one categories comprising of both women’s and men’s events.

The tournament is organized and conducted by the Sri Lanka Squash Federation and is considered a National ranking tournament.

The senior open events will be tightly contested with much fancied juniors trying to blow their armory at the much experienced seniors. Dilshan Gunawardena, Gihan Suwaris and Ravindu Laksiri will be the top shots in the Mens Open event to feature in the tournament. Nineteen year old Dilshan who won his first Mens Open title at the recently concluded Otters Open Squash Tournament will be eyeing to keep up his good form. Meanwhile both Gihan and Ravindu who were not able to taste gold for some time will definitely make this an opportunity to fire back.

The Women’s Open event too will be hotly contested with top contestants being Mihiliya Methsarani, Naduni Gunawaedena, Nadindi Udangawa Fathoum Issadeen and Dulakshi Elikawela. Mihiliya who has been performing quite well over the last few tournaments and would want to keep her run uninterrupted while Naduni who was only able to taste silver in most of the previous battles will try and come up with a fresh plan to change the tide in her favor. Nadindi and Dulakshi are also capable of turning things around in their favor as both count a wealth of experience. Yet again it would be interesting to see who would dominate with juniors trying to climb up the ladder and seniors trying to retain their glory.

The junior events too are loaded with top quality up -coming players. Much hopes are on Ravindu Laksiri, Shamil Wakeel ,Senindu Induwara and Methmal Wood to dominate the Boys junior events while Mihiliya Methsarani, Naduni Gunawardena, Kasuni Gunawardena,Wasundara Suwaris  Fathoum Issadeen and Sameera Deen are expected to do well in the Girls junior events being top favorites for their respective age group events.
