The triangular cricket series organized by Sri Lanka Cricket started yesterday at Pallekele International Stadium and Sri Lanka cruised to an easy 28 run win according to the Duckworth/Lewis method.
The tournament conducted as a warm up for upcoming Champions Trophy in England was without Sri Lanka’s IPL stars, but still Sri Lanka cruised to a comfortable win against SLC Combined XI.
Half-centuries by Mahela Udawatta (63) and Jehan Mubarak (79) helped SLC Combined XI to a commanding 277 for seven in 50 overs. Rangana Herath picked up four wickets.
In reply, Lahiru Thirimanne smashed an unbeaten 82 and shared a 124 run stand for the third wicket to guide the team to a comfortable win. They were 195 for three in 35 overs when play was suspended due to bad light. They were ahead of the Duckworth/Lewis method at that point and were declared winners.
