Wesley College took on Ananda College in the Kotmale Chox inter school T20 match held at the Campbelle park this evening. It was an amazing batting performance by the Weslities to beat their counterparts by 4 wickets to emerge winners.
The Anandians batting first scored 124 runs all out in 19.4 overs. Pasindu Isira scored 14 runs but was caught by Bassiju Muzammil off the bowling of Jesse Canderamanpulle. Vice captain Dhanuka Madushan made 29 runs.
Captain Thushara Samarakoon contributed with 24 runs before being run out while Thaween Dhananjaya added some spice with a 24.
The host Wesly College possessing superior bowlers managed to keep the Ananda batsman in check. Bassiju Musammil, Thirasu Kariyawasam, and Migara Wickramasinghe took two wickets each while Jesse Caderanpulle and Desman Jayawardane scalped 1 each.
When the chance came for the hosts to bat, they showed immense competence and scored at a steady pace to over power Ananda College 125/6 in 20 overs. Kariyawasam and Musammil impressed with the bat as with the ball dominating entire match. Kariyawasam scored 29 and Musammil 38 not out to take Wesley home and dry. Thirasu Kariyawasam demonstrated some skill and was caught by Thushara off the bowling of Chamupathi Siriwardane.
Harshana Jayasinghe and Jesse Cadermanpulle slashed out 2 fours to score 11 and 13 runs but they were removed by Ishan Bandaranayake and Isuru Gunasekare.
