West Indies women take T20 series 4-1

The touring West Indies team secured the victory in the 5th Twenty 20 match today at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium taking the series 4-1.

West Indians who won the toss decided to bat first and scored 122 runs with in their 20 overs. Sri Lankan only managed to take 5 West Indies wickets. Captain M. Aguilleiria who scores most of the runs for the touring side was removed by her counterpart  Sri Lankan captain Shshikala Siriwardane. It was a superb catch by D. Rasangika to limit her score to just 2 runs.

J. Ogle who scored 6 runs was scalped by Udeshika while her good bowling limited S. Quinityne to 18. The catch was made by Nilakshi De Silva. D. Dottin smashed an  amazing 43 runs with  5 boundaries inclusive of 3 sixes and 2 fours. J. Nero one of the best players possessed by the West Indies team scored 25. Nero and Dottin were both removed by the bowling of Oshadi Ranaweera. Kycia Knight and S. Daley remained unbeaten to score 14 and 7 runs.

Sri Lankan team who scored 115 brought it close but were all out in the 20th over. Prasadhini Weerakkody was the only noteworthy performance with a score of 14 before succumbing to S. Qunityne. The next batswoman Deepika was also beaten by S. Quintyne . S. Daley sent out Nilakshi in the 12th over for a total of 12.

When the scoreboard read 13 overs, the Sri Lankan lasses thrashed out 5 boundaries with Eshani Kaushalya Lokusooriya once again doing the damage to send out 2 sixes consecutively. He knock included an amazing 4 sixes and 1 four before being caught M Aguilleria bowled T. Smartt for  44. Despite heroics by  Eshani sadly Sri Lanka fell short in the very last over.  Sri Lanka lost by 7 runs.
