The inter school Cricket encounter between Gurukula College and Prince of Wales College was concluded today at the Prince of Wales grounds.
Prince of Wales College in their first innings yesterday scored 258 runs and continued their good form with the ball managing to dismiss the Gurukula batsmen 238 runs in 62.3 over’s. Lisula Lakshan notched up 112 runs for the visitors and his knock included 14 fours and 1 six which came off 148 bowls while Nipul Maduka scored 38 runs. Janith Pramod remained unbeaten for a score of 26. Jayanga Peiris and Dewaka Dabare shared with the wickets with the former grabbing 5 and Dabare ending with 2 wickets for 48 and 46 runs respectively.
Prince of Wales College managed to score 184 runs in 34 over’s to declare the opposition for a loss of 6 wickets in their second innings. Hard hitting top order batsman and captain Kusal Mendis who notched up a half century yesterday in the first innings scored 44 runs in the second innings today. Senior man Shanuka Dulaj played well for 37 runs while Asitha Lanka and Janeesh Fernando score 41 and an unbeaten 22 runs respectively. Nalin Perera and Hashan Dumindu ran through the opposition with 2 and 4 wickets respectively.
Gurukula College only managed to face 33 over’s in their second innings and scored 116 for 7 wickets. Nipul Maduka reached 37 while Devaka Dabare and Shanuka Dulaj sent off 2 wickets each.
The match was concluded with Prince of Wales College winning first innings.
