Defending winners Kandy Sports Club will be playing the 1st ever Asia Rugby Western Club Championship which is scheduled to be kicked off on the 11th of September 2015 in Dubai without their key players. Kandy SC will play their games on 12th, 15th and 18th of September respectively.
While all the big names of Kandy SC dominate the Sri Lanka national 7’s squad playing the Asia 7’s series that is scheduled to start this weekend in China, Kandy SC will test some of the new profiles in Dubai. Kenyan Oscar Ouma and Tongan Koto Pongi will empower Kandy SC in Dubai.
Kandy Sports Club’s veteran stalwart Sean Wijesinghe will lead the team for the Western Club championships as well as be the coach for the team while Kapila Silva will take on duties as Manager. Talking to ThePapare.com coach Kapila said that priority will be given to the players who are currently on trials to represent Sri Lanka in the Asia 7’s series.
Kandy SC will play a warm-up game on the 4th of September (Friday) at Nittawela against Abu Dhabi Harlequins and leave the Island on the 10th of September 2015.
