Under 15 Soccer team of the Lyceum International School, Nugegoda emerged International Schools Soccer champions by beating Lyceum International School, Wattala 3-2 in penalty shoot out in the, finals played at Kelaniya Foot ball Complex on 30th January.
At the end of the allocated time the game ended in a goalless draw. As per rules of the tournament to determine the winners a goal shoot out of 5 shoots each were awarded to both teams. At the beginning shoot out Lyceum Wattala led by 2 goals to nil, but at the end of the shoot of 5 shoots Lyceum Nugegoda was able to beat the Wattala team by 3 goals to 2.
Lyceum Nugegoda was able to retain the championships for a second time.
The tournament was organized by the Royal Institute, Colombo.
Abdullah Faril of Lyceum International School, Nugegoda won the best player award while duvindu Perera of Lyceum Internatiuonal School, Wattala won the best Goal Keeper award.
The Lyceum Nugegoda team was Coached by Mr. Sarath Jayasinghe, Mr. Nishantha Silva, Mr. Masith Adarsh and Mr. Upul Peiris. Teachers in Charge were Ms. Supun Kanchana & Mr. Chanaka Prasad.
