Yashoda Lanka’s superb batting and Vijayakanth Viyaskanth’s all-round contribution handed BBK Partnership a thrilling 2-run win over Maliban Biscuits ‘A’ in the ongoing Singer-MCA Super Premier League T20 Tournament, played today (23rd December) at the Ace Capital Cricket Grounds.
After opting to bat first, BBK Partnership posted 163 for 8 in their 20 overs. Yashoda Lanka, who opened the batting, anchored the innings with a brilliant 82 off 49 balls, including 7 fours and 5 sixes. He shared a 77-run partnership for the third wicket with Vijayakanth Viyaskanth, who contributed 24 runs in 17 balls. Yasiru Rodrigo provided the finishing touches with an unbeaten 20 off 11 balls.

Chathura Peiris was the pick of the bowlers for Maliban Biscuits ‘A’, claiming 4 wickets for 24 runs in his full quota of overs. Chanuka Dilshan and Dushan Hemantha chipped in with two wickets apiece.
In response, Maliban Biscuits ‘A’ fell just short, finishing at 161/8 in their 20 overs. Dushan Vimukthi fought valiantly with an unbeaten 63 off 39 balls, hitting 5 fours and 4 sixes. Vijayakanth Viyaskanth shone with the ball as well, taking 3 wickets for 22 runs in his 4 overs.

In another match, Fairfirst Insurance secured a 17-run win over Hayleys Group ‘A’ earlier today at the same venue. Batting first, Fairfirst Insurance posted 179/7 in their 20 overs, led by an unbeaten 66 off 43 balls from Hashan Dumindu, which included 5 fours and 3 sixes. Taking the side close to 180, Asel Sigera smashed 22 off just 7 balls, including three sixes, before being run out on the penultimate delivery of the innings.
In-form Traveen Mathew took 2 wickets for 19 runs, bowling just two overs with the new ball, while skipper TM Sampath, Lahiru Samarakoon, and Ravindu Fernando shared three wickets between them.
Chasing 180, Hayleys Group ‘A’ bowled out for 162 in the final over. Ron Chandraguptha top-scored with a half-century, while TM Sampath and Ravindu Fernando added 39 and 32 runs, respectively.
