The third day of the 92nd Sir John Tarbat Senior Athletics Championship successfully concluded on the 3rd of October at the Sugathadasa Stadium in Colombo.
A new national record was equaled yesterday along with several other competition records being broken, which was a notable highlight of the day and just as impressive as its previous two days of competition.
In the under-18 boys’ 400 meters event, Omel Silva from Kandana St. Sebastian’s College completed his race in 47.10 seconds, equaling a 22-year-old national record for the under-18 category. This record was previously set by Manoj Pushpakumara in 2002. In addition to equaling the national record, Omel also set a new competition record. Sadew Rajakaruna finished second, breaking the previous competition record with a time of 47.71 seconds.
Meanwhile, in the under-16 boys’ 400 meters event, W.N. Vishal from Wennappuwa Joseph Vaz College finished in 49.76 seconds, setting a new competition record.
Similarly, the under-16 boys’ 100×4 relay team from Wennappuwa Joseph Vaz College also set a new competition record with a time of 44.18 seconds.
In addition, the under-18 girls’ 100×4 relay team from Wattala Lyceum recorded another new competition record with a time of 49.02 seconds.
Further, Gateway College Colombo set a new competition record in the under-20 girls’ 100×4 relay event, finishing in 48.49 seconds.
Ananda College Colombo also set a new competition record in the under-20 boys’ 400×4 relay, finishing in 41.45 seconds.

- Under-20 Discus Throw – B.S. Divyangali (Sanghamitta Girls’ College, Galle)
- Under-18 Long Jump – M.D. Nehara (Sri Sumangala College, Panadura)
- Under-20 High Jump – D.T.K. Jayarathna (President’s College, Kurunegala)
- Under-16 Triple Jump – W.D.D. Sirirathna (Hemamali Girls’ College, Kandy)
- Under-18 Girls’ Discus Throw – A.K.U. Weerasinghe (Princess of Wales College, Moratuwa)
- Under-16 400 Meters – K. Jayawardhana (Lyceum International School, Wattala)
- Under-18 400 Meters – S.P.W. Devmini
- Under-20 400 Meters – J. Wijetunga (Lyceum International School, Wattala)
- Under-16 100×4 Relay – Siri Kurusa College, Gampaha
Boys:
- Under-20 Javelin Throw – T.D.S.I. Rathnasiri (Ananda Maithriya College, Balangoda)
- Under-20 High Jump – G.L. Arthavidu (Ananda College, Colombo)
- Under-16 Triple Jump – A. Mihiranga (Lyceum International School, Nugegoda)
- Under-18 Pole Vault – P.A.D.S. Dilnada (Loyola College, Bopitiya)
- Under-18 Javelin Throw – H.U. Jayasingha (Joseph Vaz College, Wennappuwa)
