9 Sri Lankan cricketers have been shortlisted for VIVO IPL 2021 Player Auction which will be held on 18th February in Chennai.
Kusal Janith Perera, Thisara Perera, Dasun Shanaka, Wanindu Hasaranga, Dushmantha Chameera and Isuru Udana are the Sri Lanka national capped cricketers selected in this list.
Uncapped talents unearthed – LPL 2020
Dasun Shanaka and Thisara Perera had a great outing with the bat in the inaugural Lanka Premier League where Shanaka amassed 278 runs in 9 matches at 39.71 with a strike rate of 161.62 while Perera scored 261 runs in 10 matches at 43.50 with a strike rate of 223.07.
The leg spinner Hasaranga won the man of the series award in LPL becoming the highest wicket-taker with 17 wickets in 10 matches at 11.29. Speedster Chameera also had a reasonable outing in LPL where he picked up 8 wickets in 8 matches at 32.
Kusal Janith and Isuru Udana did not have a great time in LPL but the latter was the only Sri Lankan player represented in Indian Premier League last year.

In addition to them three more Sri Lankan uncapped players namely Kevin Koththigoda, Maheesh Theekshana and Vijayakanth Viyaskanth are shortlisted for the upcoming IPL auction.
The 22-year old Koththigoda who bowls with a bizarre bowling action represented Maratha Arabians in the recently concluded Abu Dhabi T10 League but got injured in the very first game he played.
The 20-year old Theekshana stole the spotlight in the recently concluded Abu Dhabi T10 League where he impressed with the ball picking up 3 wickets for 14 runs in the final representing Northern Warriors and won the man of the final award.

The 19-year old leg spinner Viyaskanth managed to enter history books representing Jaffna Stallions as the first Jaffna-born player to play in the Lanka Premier League.
The shortlisted list consists of a total of 292 players which represent 164 Indian players, 125 overseas players and 3 players from Associate Nations who will set to go under the hammer in Chennai on February 18th.
1114 cricketers had initially registered for the auction, but the final list was trimmed down after the eight franchises submitted they’re shortlist of players.
