DS Senanayake College, Colombo will face arch-rivals Mahanama College, Colombo in the 8th ‘Battle of the Golds’ big match scheduled to get underway at P Sara Oval this morning.
On current form, a keen contest could be anticipated with Mahanama starting the game as marginal favourites having won three matches outright out of 16 games, as against two outright wins for DS from 13 matches during the concluded inter-school cricket season.
The Battle of the Golds big match series was started back in 2007, with both schools being unable to end the big match jinx so far with the previous six games ending in draws.
However, the prevalent fickle weather conditions in the afternoons could still hamper the best efforts of both DS and Mahanama to force a result yet. (IR)
