The National Squash Championship will come alive for the 37th successive occasion on the 17th of December this month as 92 players are set to take to the Sugathadasa Squash courts to battle it out to be the best in the country.
The national championship, organized by Sri Lanka Squash alongside first-time sponsors Sri Lanka Army, will take place from the 17th to the 19th December 2017 and will have eight titles on offer. Sri Lanka Army has generously set aside LKR 1 million to operate the event. The Men’s and Women’s open titles will be the most looked forward to events and will take place on the 19th of December from 3:30pm onwards.

The Men’s and Women’s title run will be a heavily contested event with top seed Mihiliya Methsarani looking to take home her fifth national title. The five-time junior national champion will be looking to regain the silverware that she won from 2012 to 2014 from last year’s winner; Naduni Gunawardena. The Women’s draw will also have competition from the No.2 seed Fathoum Issadeen, the returning champion competing for glory.

13-time National champion Saman Thilakarathne will be flying in from Italy where he is currently training the Squash team of the nation’s Police Force, to compete for supremacy.
