Three games of the Schools U19 Division 1 Cricket Tournament were played today, 31st March 2021.
Schools U19 Division 1 Cricket Tournament – Tier A
Chamindu Wickramasinghe of St. Anthony’s College, Kandy set the day on fire with an astounding century to earn his school a massive win against the mighty S. Thomas’ College. Chamindu comes back from an unbeaten fifty in the last game which he bettered with a ton this time.
Muizz Navshan from the opponent’s camp joined Chamindu in the top batsmen chart for today. Muizz scored a valiant 74 runs while his teammates kept crumbling on the other end.
St. Sebastian’s College also recorded a 5-wicket win against St. Benedict’s College. Sukitha Prasanna played a key role in St. Sebastian’s chase as he ended with 53 runs not-out.
Mahen Silva was the man who set the stage for Sebastian’s victory as he picked 4 wickets for just 14 runs, leaving the Benedictines strangled with only 147 runs on board.
Schools U19 Division 1 Cricket Tournament – Tier B
O game took place in Tier B today, in which Avishka Tharindu kept his fine form afloat. Following a stellar century in the last game, he struck an unbeaten 57 runs today to seal a comfortable victory for St. Anthony’s College, Wattala.
Before putting on a show with the bat, he had already crushed the opposing Lumbini batsmen with the ball by returning figures of 4 for 25. His craft right-arm seam was quite tough to handle for the Lumbini boys, as they toppled for just 162 runs.
