Hayleys Group A, CL Synergy Limited and Fairfirst Insurance secured victories yesterday (17th May) at the ongoing 30th Singer – MCA Super Premier League T20 Tournament 2023.
Hayleys Group A vs John Keels A
Hayleys Group A made it two in two as they registered a 64-run win over John Keels A yesterday at Colts Grounds in Colombo.
After having to bat first, Hayleys Group A posted 183/7 in their 20 overs, led by skipper Avishka Fernando who provided a brisk start for them as he smashed 83 off 38 which included 5 fours and 8 sixes. Eshan Malinga and Dushan Hemantha bagged 2 wickets apiece.
Chasing 194 to win, John Keels A didn’t get a good start as they were reduced to 16/3. Dhananjaya Lakshan stroked a 24-ball 44 with no support from the other end as they only managed to get 119/9 at the end of 20 overs. In the bowling department, Prabath Jayasuriya bagged 3 scalps while Binura Fernando took a couple.
BBK Partnership vs CL Synergy Limited
CL Synergy Limited team got their first win as they beat BBK Partnership team by 5 wickets yesterday at MCA Grounds in Colombo.
BBK was blown away for 89 runs in 17.2 overs, Jehan Daniel top-scoring with a 44-run knock. Udith Madushan bowled superbly to pick up 3/9 while Dilum Sudeera, Isuru Udana and Navod Paranavithana grabbed 2 wickets each.
CL Synergy Limited chased down the target losing just 5 wickets with more than 7 overs to spare. Priyamal Perera remained not out on 49 while Sangeeth Cooray got 2/28 with the ball.
Mode Engineering vs Fairfirst Insurance
Fairfirst Insurance team won their first game by a comfortable 9-wickets against Mode Engineering team yesterday at the Colts Grounds in Colombo.
After being asked to bat first, Mode Engineering crumbled for just 81 in the 17th over. Dulaj Ashen scored 24 as the chief scorer. Thanuka Dabare and Wanuja Sahan Kumara bowled a couple of outstanding spells as they took 4/13 and 3/12, respectively.
Fairfirst Insurance chased down an easy target of 82 in just 7.5 overs with Thanuka Dabare’s sparkling innings of 46* included 1 four and 5 sixes. Krishan Sanjula stroked 28 off 13 with 3 fours and 2 sixes as well.
