Four matches of the 30th Singer – MCA Super Premier League 2023 held today (19th April) at several venues where CL Synergy Limited, HNB A, CDB A and Hayleys Group A were secured victories.
Mode Engineering vs CL Synergy Limited
CL Synergy Limited registered a 6-wicket win over Mode Engineering which played today at Panagoda Army Grounds in Homagama.
After opting to bat first, Mode Engineering wasn’t showcasing a good batting display by gifting their wickets at regular intervals to bowl out for 155 in 40.5 overs. Teron Shenal was their top scorer as he departed after scoring 37 while Vinuka Rubasinghe made 28.
Left arm finger spinner, Dilum Sudeera bowled exceptionally well with figures of 8.5-2-19-2. Apart from that, skipper Sonal Dinusha, Pramod Madushan and Sahan Arachchige scalped two apiece.
In the end, CL Energy Limited chased down the target of 156 with 18.5 overs to spare with Avishka Tharindu stroking an unbeaten 65 off 69 balls including 5 fours and 1 six. Chamindu Wickramasinghe also contributed well as an opener before being dismissed for 39.
BBK Partnership vs HNB A
HNB A became victorious today at MCA Grounds in Colombo where they beat BBK Partnership by 7 wickets.
After having won the toss, HNB A put the opposition to bat first. However, BBK Partnership was able to put only 157 where they bowled out in 36.2 overs. Jehan Daniel scored a half-century with three 4’s and two 6’s while Sohan De Livera made 21-ball 30. Madhuka Liyanapathiranage’s bowling looked so threatening as he picked 4 wickets by giving away only 11 runs. Apart from that, Dellon Peiris and Chamindu Wijesinghe took two wickets each.
HNB A chased down the target quite comfortably with 22 overs remaining, led by Janishka Perera who scored an unbeaten fifty. Apart from that, Sandun Weerakkody and Asitha Wanninayake made 29 runs each as well.
Fairfirst Insurance vs CDB A
CDB A recorded a fabulous victory over Fairfirst Insurance where they played at BOI Grounds in Colombo.
Fairfirst Insurance was bowled out for 244 after deciding to bat first, contributed by Krishan Sanjula and Anuk Fernando stroked the fifties while Thanuka Dabare got out after scoring a quick-fire 43. Muditha Lakshan produced an excellent spell where he bagged 5/38 while skipper Lahiru Madushanka and Tharindu Rathnayake shared 5 wickets between them.
Shevon Daniel and Lasith Croospulle were given a head start to CDB A run chase by smashing a 50-ball 85 and 31-ball 57, respectively. Then, Oshada Fernando and Lakshitha Manasinghe take their side to win by scoring an unbeaten 44 runs each in quick fashion as CDB A raced to the target in just 29.2 overs.
Hayleys Group A vs John Keels A
Hayleys Group A registered a comprehensive win over John Keels A today at Dombagoda Army Grounds in Kalutara.
After asking to bat first, Hayleys Group A posted 232 before being bowled out in 48.2 overs. Skipper Avishka Fernando and Ron Chandraguptha put on a 92 run-stand for the opening wicket. Chandraguptha was their top scorer as he departed for 61 while Avishka scored 52 as well. Mohommed Shamaaz got a useful 31 by taking their side beyond the 200 run-mark. In the bowling front, Dunith Wellalage and Nimesh Vimukthi bagged 3 wickets apiece.
In the end, Hayleys Group A’s 232 was more than enough as their bowlers bowled John Keels A out for 174 runs led by skipper Avishka Fernando and Ashen Bandara, both picked up 3 wickets apiece while Praveen Jayawickrama got 2/30 as well. John Keels A’s openers, Duvindu Thilakarathne and Kavin Bandara scored 34 & 42, respectively, but that wasn’t enough for their victory.
