Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association (SLSRFA) is set to bring the curtain down on the Under 19 Schools’ Rugby season this weekend with the Under 19 Division 1 Schools’ Rugby 7s competition set to be held at the Nittawela Rugby stadium on the 1st and 2nd of October with the participation of 24 teams.

Isipathana College, who collected the double as unbeaten champions winning the league and the knockouts competitions, will be eyeing the triple going into the 7s tourney and will no doubt be pre-tournament favorites.

League and knockouts runners up St. Joseph’s, who will surely be bruised after falling short twice to Isipathana, will be determined to win the final competition of the year. Wesley College is sure to be a handful alongside St. Peter’s who will look to finish the season on a high.

The Plate winners of the Western Province Schools’ Rugby 7s D.S Senanayake College, will be somewhat of a dark horse, who has the ability to upset a few big names. Dharmaraja, Vidyartha, Kingswood and St. Anthony’s will look to capitalize on the home advantage with the competition being conducted in Kandy.

The first day of the competition will see the teams divided into eight groups of three with each team set to play two games in round robin format. The team that tops each group will qualify for the Cup/ Plate quarterfinals while second and third placed teams are set to compete in the Bowl and Shield quarterfinals respectively on day 02.
