Two matches in the Singer Schools’ U19 two-day cricket tournament 2017/18 concluded today at two venues.

The Richmondites having all the advantage coming in to the second day, the Sokians needed a saviour to get them out of jail.

Ravindu Rashantha was the only batsman who reached fifty as the lads from Ambalangoda put up a decent batting effort in the second essay comparing to the disappointing first innings score.

Left-arm spinner Dilum Sudeera claimed 3 wickets to follow-up his first innings efforts, while off-spinner Sandun Mendis completed a much deserved 4 wickets to rattle the Sokians.

The one-sided game ended around 3 pm on the second day, the Richmond College thrashed Dharmasoka by innings & 58 runs.

De Mazenod College vs St. Sylvester’s College

Resuming on 34 for none, the Mazenodians needed 240 to secure first innings points in the group ‘D’ encounter which was played at the Prison grounds in Pallekele.

The right-arm seamer Nimsara Attaragalla was the game changer with a 5-wicket haul as he steered St. Sylvester’s to a convincing first innings win over the lads from Kandana in a rain-hit game. Sri Lanka youth cap Krishan Sanjula was unfortunate as he was dismissed nearing a half-ton for the visitors.

Nimsara had a good game with bat and ball as the boys from Kandy took honours in the drawn game.
